About The Lodge

Paradox Lodge was built in 1890 and is located on Paradox Bay on Lake Placid. The lodge provides a quiet and comfortable atmosphere for guests. Once used as a rooming house in the early 50’s for summer guests, the building was later abandoned and left vacant for 30 years until the current owners/innkeepers purchased it in April 1998 and completely renovated it. Today, eight rooms are available on a year round basis, each decorated in its own unique style featuring handmade Adirondack furniture, antiques, ceiling fans, beautiful quilts, down comforters, and lots of pillows.
Downstairs is a comfortable living room area where guests may lounge and relax. A large covered porch with comfortable rocking chairs is a nice place to watch the setting sun. Or you may prefer to sit down by the lake and enjoy the view of Whiteface Mountain. The dining room is adjacent to the kitchen where breakfast is served prepared by Chef Moses “Red” LaFountaine. Chef Moses was formerly the owner, operator and working chef of the Steak & Stinger Restaurant in Lake Placid from 1963 – 1990.
